For the next few months, we are going to feature one of our favorite designers each month. These are people that we admire and look forward to seeing their next bit of content, every time it comes out. They don't know us from Adam but have inspired, motivated and challenged our designs in so many ways. So, we wanted you to know who they are, honor some of their work and let you know how you can connect with them and follow them too.
We discovered Von Glitschka through a Linda.com subscription. He teaches a big chunk of the sites Logo and Vector Graphics content. Glitschka has years of experience, incredible talent and a deep portfolio. His art has a way of being basic (or what he would call pragmatic) but detailed at the same time. An example of this would be his OneStop Pro Logo. What a cute little basic character, but look closer at the detail of this logo. Every single gap has the same spacing. He gives you a ton of information in this logo. The tools they use in their work. Who they are. What they do. When they were established. He even threw in a little negative space action within the n, in the name of the company. Every element combined will make a great sign or report cover. Admittedly, there will be times that all of this information is just too much. So, this logo is created to be easily deconstructed into its various elements. As and example, the Onestop Pro banner could be used in isolation in a document header. or the character alone could be used in a lower corner of a presentation.
Glitschka always recommends hand drawing a plethora of thumbnails to get your ideas flowing then building out your final design on paper before scanning it into Adobe Illustrator where you will begin to digitize your work. The detail and shading in this Red Lion logo are a direct result of his artistic ability. Another thing we love about this logo is the light gray offset path (outline). This small detail allows you to place it on top of virtually anything.
Glitschka Studios is a small two person boutique design firm located in the Pacific Northwest. Its designs and illustrations have been used by some of the most respected global brands. Their client list is too extensive to fully list but it does include the likes of Disney, HGTV, Proctor & Gamble and the US Marine Corps.
Glitschka Studios wants to make the creative industry a better place. So, they train others through One-on-One sessions and LinkedIn Learning web-based sessions. Their courses include logo design, branding and illustration resources, among other things. You will find everything from vector brushes to posters, stickers and books in their online store.
